Leaves lanceolate (6-15 cm), with pointed tip, with a slightly serrate margin, glossy, dark green. Flowers not remarkable; male flowers in hanging catkins (5 cm), brown-yellow, female flowers ovate (up to 0,5 cm), brown-red. Flowering period: February-March.
