Description
Small, upright, broad, slow growing, evergreen ornamental tree (H 6-8 m, W 4-7 m). Crown broadly oval, dense. Leaves ovate (7-10 cm), with a slightly serrate margin, smooth, green, underneath grey-green; leaves remain green through the winter and fall off in spring, with the new growth. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence; male inflorescence grey-white, ornamental. Flowering period: May. Fruits elongate (2 cm), hard, brown. Not reliably hardy in central-european continental climate, needs a sheltered position. Quercus × turneri is a cross Quercus ilex × Q. robur.
