Description
Small, broad, slow growing deciduous tree (H 4-6 m, depands as well on grafting height, W 3-4 m). Crown broadly spherical, dense, regular. Bark on young shoots green, densely hairy, later olive-green and glabrous; bark on older branches grey. Branches upright to open. Leaves broadly heart-shaped (8-12 cm), with a slightly serrate margin, at first zgoraj slightly hairy, later glabrous, mid to dark green; underneath dense white hairy; autumn colour bright yellow. Flowers in light, hanging inflorescence (of 5-10 flowers), simple, pale yellow, with numerous anthers, scented. Flowering period: July-August. Fruits dry, elongate, slightly conical (0,7-1 cm), felty, grey-brown. Ripening time: September-October. Undemanding about soil conditions. Easily withstands heat, drought, wind and urban conditoins.
