Description
Small, upright, widely spreading deciduous tree or large, bushy shrub (H 6-10 m, W 4-6 m). Crown broad, low dome-shaped, open. Branches widely spreading, horizontal to slightly hanging. Leaves finely twice pinnately compound, ovate (30-40 cm), with numerous narrow-lanceolate leaflets; dark red-violet. Flowers in terminal inflorescence (10 cm), round, with numerous long thread-like anthers, light lilac-pink, partly white. Flowering period: July-September. Some branches may die during cold winters, but the plant regrows well. Requires sufficiently drained, partly sandy soils in warm sheltered sites.
