Description
Small, upright, narrow, deciduous ornamental tree (H 6-8 m, W 2-3 m). Crown columnar, in the upper part eventually spreading. Bark glossy, chestnut brown to red brown. Young shoots dark red to brown-red. Leaves ovate (up to 12 cm), at first coppery red, later green, autumn colour bright red. Flowers numerous, in smaller inflorescence, simple (4-4,5 cm), light pink to bright pink. Flowering period: April. Fruits round, fleshy, tiny, dark red to black-red; rare. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Needs a slightly sheltered position and well-drained soils.
