Description
Medium-sized, upright, broadly growing, deciduous ornamental tree (H 7-12 m, W 4-7 m). Bark glossy, chestnut brown to red brown. Young shoots dark red to brown-red. Leaves ovate (up to 12 cm), at first coppery red, later green, autumn colour bright orange-red. Flowers numerous, in smaller inflorescence, simple (3-4 cm), light pink. Flowering period: April. Fruits round, fleshy, tiny, dark red to black-red; rare. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Needs a slightly sheltered position and well-drained soils.
