Description
Large, upright evergreen tree, conifer (H 10-20 m, W 6-8 m). Bark grey. Crown conical, broad at maturity, dome-shaped. Branches upright to widely spreading. Buds egg-shaped, resinous. Needles (4-6 cm) pointed, in pairs, stiff, stiff to slightly spiraly bent, dark green. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence, on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (4-6 cm), elongate to egg-shaped, grey-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils; withstands semi-shade.
