Description
Large, upright, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 18-25 m, W 10-15 m). Crown ovate to rounded. Leaves broad-palmate (10-20 cm), 3-5-lobed, with a roughly serrate margin, green, underneath light grey-green; autumn colour bright to dark red; leaflets remarkable, wide, with pointed tip. Flowers yellow to red. Flowering period: April, rarely blossoms. Fruits absent. Easily withstands wind, urban conditions, hard soils, tolerates street paving. Acer freemaniii is a cross between Acer rubrum and A. saccharinum.
