Description
Large, broad, deciduous tree (H 18-25 m, W 8-12 m). Crown ovate to rounded, eventually irregular, picturesque. Bark white with black spots, roughly fissured. Young shoots dark brown to grey, glossy. Branches open to distinctly hanging. Leaves broadly triangular to rhomboid (3-7 cm), with pointed tip, with a slightly serrate margin, mid dark green, lighter underneath, autumn colour bright yellow. Flowers tiny, in hanging yellow-green inflorescence, catkins. Flowering period: April. Undemanding tree, adaptable to different soils, withstands occasional drought and urban conditoins.
