Description
Small, weeping, broad, slow growing deciduous tree (H 42-3 m, depands as well on grafting height and support, W 4-5 m). Crown broadly dome-shaped, picturesque, irregular. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to kidney-shaped (10-15 cm), with obtuse tip, smooth, glossy, vivid green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1 cm), light lilac-pink. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (6-8 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows well in sufficiently drained soils, in distinctly sunny sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
