Description
Small, weeping, slow growing deciduous tree (H 2,5-3 m, W 2-3 m). Crown umbrella-shaped. Vele widely spreading, hanging. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to round (8-12 cm), smooth, vivid green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1 cm), light lilac-pink. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (6-8 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows well in sufficiently drained soils, in distinctly sunny sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
