Description
Small, compact, narrow, slow growing deciduous tree (H 2,5-3 m, W 1-2 m). Crown narrowly vase-shaped to narrowly ovate. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to round (8-14 cm), smooth, glossy, vivid green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1,5 cm), dark pink. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (8-10 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows well in sufficiently drained soils, in distinctly sunny, warm, slightly sheltered sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
