Description
Small, upright, narrow growing deciduous tree (H 3-5 m, W 1,5-2 m). Crown columnar to narrowly ovate, dense. Branches mostly upright. Leaves broadly ovate (4-7 cm), smooth, bluish green to dark green, autumn colour orange to red. Flowers numerous, in loose clusters, star-shaped (2-3 cm), simple, white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits rare; elongate round (1 cm), fleshy, juicy, red to dark blue-violet. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. A tough, undemanding plant, grows well also in poor soils; normally withstands wind, cold, heat, drought and urban conditoins.
