Description
Medium-sized, upright, narrow, deciduous ornamental tree (H 8-12 m, W 3-5 m). Bark grey-brown, lightly fissured. Crown regular, conical to narrowly ovoid. Branches thornless. Leaves broadly ovate (4-10 cm), smooth, glossy, dark green, autumn colour red to violet-red. Flowers numerous, in umbels, simple, cup-shaped (2 cm), white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits globose (up to 1 cm), hard, grey-brown; rare. Attracts bees, butterflies and birds. Requires limy soils, otherwise easy to grow species, withstands also urban conditoins.
