Description
Small, upright, broad, often multi-stemmed, deciduous ornamental tree or large shrub (H 6-9 m, W 5-8 m). Bark glossy, smooth, mahogany-brown to red-brown. Crown broad, open. Branches upright to broadly open, sparse. Leaves lanceolate (8-12 cm), at first yellow-green to light green, later dark green, autumn colour yellow. Flowers simple (2 cm), white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits egg-shaped (1 cm), fleshy, dark red. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Easily withstands winter cold. Requires deep, always moderately moist soils. Full name: Prunus serrula var. tibetica.
