Description
Small, slow growing, compact evergreen shrub, conifer (H 0,5-1 m, W 0,8-1,8 m). Bark grey. Crown broadly ovoid, later more broad, flattened spherical, dense. Branches flexible, upright to widely spreading; short, densely branched. Needles (3-6 cm) pointed, in pairs, stiff to slightly spiraly bent, mid to dark green. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence, on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (2-6 cm), elongate to egg-shaped, grey-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils; withstands semi-shade. Very tolerant of snow, wind and urban conditoins. This variety produces cones (2-3 cm) more often than other dwarf varieties of Pinus mugo.
