Description
Medium-sized, tuft-forming, bushy fast growing deciduous shrub (H 1-1,5 m, W 1-1,8 m). Branches green, later light brown, thin, upright to partly hanging. Leaves lanceolate to narowly lanceolate or 3-lobed (1-2 cm), dark green. Flowers pea-like (up to 2,5 cm), salmon red to bright pink, smaller part of flower yellow. Flowering period: May-June. Attracts butterflies and bees. Needs well-drained soils, prefers to grow in poor, less fertile soils. Useful as a ground-covering shrub for planting large banks. Cytisus × praecox is a cross C. multiflorus x C. purgans.
