Description
Small, compact, slow growing deciduous shrub (H 0,2-0,3 m, W 0,3-0,5 m). Crown flat-rounded, broad, dense. Branches upright to open. Bark on young shoots brown, at first densely hairy. Leaves lanceolate (1,5-3 cm), glossy, smooth, light to mid green. Flowers in clusters, catkins (1-1,5 cm), silver-grey to yellow. Most of plants grown are male, producing only male flowers, catkins. Flowering period: April-May. Seeds absent. A tough species, normally withstands urban conditions and cold, it prefers always moist, a sufficiently drained, partly sandy soils.
