Description
Small, prostrate, widely spreading deciduous shrub (H 0,2-0,3 m, W 0,5-0,8 m). Crown carpet forming, broad, dense. Branches widely spreading to prostrate. Bark on young shoots brown. Leaves ovate (1 cm), glossy, smooth, bright light green to mid green. Flowers in clusters, catkins (1-1,5 cm), silver-grey to yellow. A male variety, only male flowers, catkins. Flowering period: April-May. Seeds absent. A tough species, normally withstands urban conditions and cold, needs well-drained but always moderately moist soils. Suitable for rock-gardens, or as a container-plant. Full name of the hybrid is Salix × simulatrix.
