Description
Large, upright, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 15-18 m, W 8-10 m). Crown pyramidal, irregular, picturesque. Branches upright, young branches hanging. Bark on young shoots bright orange-yellow to yellow, later grey-brown, roughly fissured. Leaves lanceolate (6-10 cm), svilnato hairy, slightly glossy, green above, underneath light blue-green. Flowers in clusters, catkins (4-6 cm), grey to yellow; dioecious plant, male and female flowers on separate plants. Flowering period: April. Seeds numerous, very tiny, with grey-white hairs. Ripening time: May. Very healthy, adaptable species, normally withstands urban conditions, wind, cold and heat and long-lasting flooding.
