Description
Small, weeping deciduous tree (H 3-6 m, depands on grafting height, W 3-5 m). Leaves large (8-20 cm), broadly ovate to heart-shaped, eventually palmately lobed (3-5 leaflets), rough, light green. Male and female flowers separate, light green, tiny. Fruits fleshy, elongate cylindric to egg-shaped (2-3 cm), resembling raspberries, white, light pink, pink-red to dark violet-red, sweet and tasty, good for fresh use, cooking and making jams. Attracts birds and insects. Requires sunny, warm, sheltered positions and sufficiently drained, poor, calcareous soils.
