Description
Medium-sized, broad, bushy deciduous shrub (H 1,5-2,5 m, W 2-3 m). Crown broadly spherical to dome-shaped, dense. Leaves broadly ovate (12 cm), leathery, glossy, light to mid green, autumn colour bright orange-red to dark violet-red. Flowers in dense, flat inflorescence (10-12 cm), simple (1 cm), cream white. Flowering period: May-June. Fruits ovate, fleshy, glossy, dark red. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Undemanding shrub, grows well under trees, in half-shade, prefers moist soils. Viburnum 'Chippewa' is a result of a crossing between V. japonicum and V. dilatatum 'Catskill'.
