Description
Small, broad, weeping, deciduous ornamental tree (H 4-5 m, depands as well on grafting height, W 3-5 m). Crown broadly dome-shaped. Leaves ovate (6-12 cm), young leaves light green, later dark green, autumn colour yellow. Flowers simple, star-shaped (2,5-3 cm), flower buds light pink, open flowers snow white; almond scent. Flowering period: March-April. No fruits. Attracts butterflies and bees. Needs light, fertile and moderately moist soils. Prunus × yedoensis is of an older Japanese origin, most likely a result of crossing between Prunus speciosa and P. pendula f. ascendens.
