Description
Small, upright, broad, deciduous ornamental tree (H 6-10 m, W 5-7 m). Bark dark grey. Crown broad, rounded. Branches open to horizontal, thornless. Young shoots softly grey hairy. Leaves egg-shaped (5-8 cm), silver-grey to grey-green, underneath slightly hairy. Flowers simple, cup-shaped (2-3 cm), white, with remarkable dark red anthers. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits globose (3-5 cm), yellow-green. Ripening time: September-October. Attracts bees, butterflies and birds. Very tolerant to winter cold, heat, drought and urban conditions, it prefers very sunny sites.
