Description
Small, compact, broad, slow growing evergreen shrub (H 1,4-1,7 m, W 1,5-2 m). Crown rounded. Leaves broadly egg-shaped to ovate (5-9 cm), leathery, at first silver-grey, later grey-green to dark green, underneath red-brown to grey-brown felty. Flowers numerous, in dense terminal inflorescence, broadly bell-shaped (3-4 cm), bright pink to light pink. Flowering period: May. Requires deep, fertile, humus-rich, sufficiently drained, but always moist soils. Easily withstands moderatly sunny sites, grows well also in slightly acidic and neutral soils. Easily withstands winter cold.
