Description
Small, compact, relatively fast growing evergreen shrub (H 1-1,3 m, W 1-1,3 m). Crown evenly rounded, dense. Leaves broadly egg-shaped to round (4-7 cm), leathery, glossy, at first coppery red to dark brown, later bright to dark green, lighter underneath, bluish-green. Flowers numerous, in loose terminal inflorescence, pedunculate and slightly nodding, broadly bell-shaped (3-4 cm), dark red-pink to light red-pink. Flowering period: April-May. Requires light, fertile, acidic, humus-rich, sufficiently drained, but always moist soils. Easily withstands also moderatly sunny sites.
