Description
Small, upright, fast growing deciduous tree (H 7-9 m, W 4-5 m). Crown at first conical, more broad at maturity, ovate. Branches upright to widely spreading. Bark on young shoots yellow-green, later yellow-brown to grey, with shallow cracks. Leaves lanceolate (6-8 cm), scrolled, bright light green, underneath light grey-green, autumn colour yellow. Flowers in clusters, catkins (3-4 cm), light yellow. Flowering period: April-May. A tough, adaptable species, normally withstands urban conditions and short periods of flooding. Requires very light, open sites.
