Description
Medium-sized, upright, deciduous fruit-tree (H 8-15 m, W 5-7 m). Bark dark grey-brown, later with cracks. Crown conical to broadly oval, eventually irregular. Branches upright to open, later hanging. Leaves egg-shaped to ovate (5-8 cm), smooth, glossy, dark green above, underneath light green. Flowers simple, cup-shaped (2-3 cm), white, with remarkable red anthers. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits elongate (5-7 cm), fleshy, juicy, tasty. Ripening time: September-October. Attracts bees, butterflies and birds. Requires fertile, moderately moist, well-drained soils, in warm sites. Easily withstands winter cold, drought and urban conditoins.
