Description
Small, upright, broad, deciduous ornamental fruit-tree (H 3-4 m, W 3-4 m), of poor to medium vigour. Leaves elongate lanceolate (5-15 cm), dark violet-red, glossy. Flowers simple (2-3 cm), light pink to white. Flowering period: March-April. Fruits small to medium-sized, round, softly hairy, dark red, flesh juicy, fragrant, outstandingly tasty, red. Ripening time: September. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Requires sunny, warm sites. Due to deep roots grows well also in poor, dry soils.
