Description
Large, frost tender (min. +5 °C), semi-evergreen to evergreen climber. Leaves palmate (6-8 cm), 3-lobed, smooth, green. Flowers large, star-shaped (8-11 cm); large, lanceolate, outer petals violet to light lilac; inner thin, thread-like petals blue-violet; anthers and stigmas in centre, remarkably large. Flowering period: June-September. Fruits ovate (6 cm), fleshy, orange. Ripening time: October-November. Attracts butterflies and bees. Grown as a container-plant, needs light, humus-rich, very nutrient-rich and well-drained soils. Requires a sunny and sheltered site. The variety is an English hybrid of Passiflora kernesina × P. caerulea.
