Description
Medium-sized, bushy, evergreen shrub (H 1,5-2 m, W 1,5-2 m). Branches light brown, stiff, upright. Leaves large, pinnately compound, leaflets egg-shaped (6-10 cm), with a spiny margin, leathery, glossy, dark green, in winter dark red to wine red. Flowers numerous, in clusters on shoots' ends, light to lemon yellow, scented. Flowering period: February-April. Fruits ovate (up to 1 cm), fleshy, grey-blue. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Good cut-flower. The variety is a cross Mahonia japonica × M. lomariifolia.
