Description
Small, upright, slow growing evergreen tree, conifer (H 3-7 m, W 2-3 m). Bark brown-grey, rough. Crown conical to broadly ovoid. Branches open to horizontal. Needles (6-12 cm) pointed, in fives, glossy, dark green, with bright yellow cross-wise stripes. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (9-16 cm), elongate, at first green or dark violet, ripe brown, seeds edible. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils.
