Description
Small, upright deciduous tree (H 5-8 m, W 3-4 m). Crown regular, pyramidal, dense. Leaves large, ovate (10-15 cm), dark green. Flowers simple, cup-shaped (15-20 cm), snow white. Flowering period: April-May. Needs light, humus-rich, well-drained, but always moist, slightly acidic, lime-free soils. Magnolia kewensis is a cross Magnolia kobus × M. salicifolia. It grows well in deep, humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-drained and always moderately moist soils, in sunny and half shady sheltered sites.
