Description
Small, widely spreading deciduous tree (H 7-9 m, W 6-8 m). Crown funnel-shaped, at maturity more broad, eventually dome-shaped, picturesque. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to round (7-12 cm), smooth, light green, underneath bluish green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1 cm), bright pink. Flowering period: April. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (6-8 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows well in sufficiently drained soils, in distinctly sunny sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
