Description
Small, upright, broad, moderately growing deciduous fruit-plant, shrub (H 1,5-2 m, W 1,5-2 m). Branches upright to widely spreading, thornless. Leaves broad, palmate (5-9 cm), 3-5-lobed, mid to dark green. Flowers in hanging racemes, simple, star-shaped (1 cm), outside light green, inside red-violet. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits globose (up to 1,3 cm), fleshy, very juicy, black, very tasty. To be used fresh and for cooking. Ripening time: June-July. Undemanding fruit-plant. Josta is a cross between gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa), black currant (Ribes nigrum) and American common gooseberry (Ribes divaricatum).
