Description
Large, bushy, slow growing deciduous shrub (4-8 m), eventually small, multi-stemmed tree. Growth broad (4-5 m), side branches horizontal, slightly hanging. Leaves broad-oval, wrinkled, dark green, underneath blue-green, autumn colour yellow to yellow-red. Flowers green, tiny, in round inflorescence, surrounded by 4 bracts (up to 8 cm) white to cream white. Flowering period: May-June. Fruit round (1,5-2 cm), fleshy, raspberry red, edible. Attracts birds. More resistant and drought-tolerant than Cornus florida.
