Description
Large, upright, multistemmed evergreen shrub, conifer (H 2,5-4 m, W 1-1,5 m). Bark orange-brown to red-brown, flaky. Crown broad, ovoid to rounded, irregular, picturesque. Branches open to horizontal. Young shoots orange-red to grey-brown, rough. Buds egg-shaped, red-brown. Needles (2-4 cm) firm, twisted, prominent, pointed, in pairs, dark yellow-green to green. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (5-10 cm), elongate egg-shaped, light brown to green-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils.
