Description
Large, wide deciduous shrub (H 3-4 m, W 2-3,5 m), crown open, wide-spreading. Leaves broadly egg-shaped (12-15 cm), slightly asymmetrical, softly hairy, grey-green to dark green, autumn colour yellow to bright red. Flowers numerous, with short petioles, pleasantly scented, star-shaped (up to 3 cm), petals (4) narrow, ribbon-like, wrinkled and partly scrolled, light orange to light coppery red. Flowering period: January-March. Grows well in slightly acidic, always moist soils, in a sheltered position. Hamamelis × intermedia is a cross H. japonica × H. mollis.
