Description
Large, upright, broad, fast growing deciduous shrub (H 3-5 m, W 3-5 m). Crown rounded, dense, irregular. Bark on young shoots densely hairy, grey-green to reddish, later dark grey. Leaves narrowly ovate (6-10 cm), zgoraj grey, underneath dense grey-dlakavi. Flowers in clusters, catkins (2-4 cm), grey to yellow. Flowering period: March-April. Seeds numerous, very tiny, with grey-white hairs. Ripening time: May. A tough species, adaptable, withstands also occasional flooding. Grows best in, neutral to acidic soils.
