Description
Medium-sized, upright, moderately growing deciduous shrub, fruit-plant (H 2-3 m, W 2-3 m). Crown broadly ovate to rounded. Leaves broadly ovate (3-5 cm), at first light green, softly hairy, later glabrous, dark green, autumn colour orange to red. Flowers numerous, in loose clusters, star-shaped (2 cm), simple, white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits elongate globose (1 cm), fleshy, juicy, dark violet-blue. Edible raw. Ripening time: July-August. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. A tough, undemanding plant, grows well also in poor soils.
