Description
Medium-sized, upright, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 12-15 m, W 5-7 m). Crown ovate. Bark on young shoots dark red, later grey. Leaves palmate (10-20 cm), 3-5-lobed, leaflets wide, with pointed tips; with a roughly, unevenly toothed margin; leaves green, underneath blue-green; autumn colour vivid yellow to vivid red, intense coloration. Flowers green to red, inhanging inflorescence. Flowering period: April. Fruits absent. Easily withstands cold and occasional flooding. The variety is a cross between Acer sacharinum and A. rubrum; = Acer × freemanii 'Celebration'.
