Description
Medium-sized, very slow growing, broad evergreen shrub, conifer (H 1-2,5 m, W 1-2 m). Bark grey, rough. Crown broadly rounded, flattened, later rounded to ovoid. Branches flexible, upright to widely spreading or creeping; short. Buds ovoid, resinous. Needles (2-4 cm) pointed, in pairs, thickly arrange, stiff to slightly spiraly bent, very dark green. Flowers in sepparated male and female cones on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Seed cones (2-6 cm), elongate to ovoid, grey-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils; withstands semi-shade. Very tolerant of snow, wind and urban conditoins.
