Description
Small, compact, moderately growing deciduous tree (H 5-6 m, W 6-8 m). Crown broadly spherical to broadly dome-shaped. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to kidney-shaped (10-15 cm), with obtuse tip, smooth, glossy, vivid green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1 cm), dark red-pink. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (6-8 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows well in sufficiently drained soils, in distinctly sunny sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
