Description
Medium-sized, dense, upright evergreen shrub (H 1,5-2,5 m, W 1-2 m), crown broadly pyramidal to egg-shaped. Branches partly upright, later horizontal, eventually slightly hanging, bark dark violet-red, on older branches grey. Leaves ovate to broadly lanceolate (4-7 cm), leathery, smooth, with a spiny margin, glossy, variegated, dark green, with gold-yellow margin, in autumn and winter je margin dark pink. Mostly or only female flowers, unremarkable, needs a polinator for producing fruits. Fruits globose (4-6 mm), fleshy, smooth, glossy bright red, autumn and winter attraction. Ripening time: September-October. Attracts birds. Needs a sheltered position.
