Description
Large, dense, upright evergreen shrub or a small tree (H 4-5 m, W 3-4 m), crown pyramidal. Branches partly upright, later horizontal, eventually slightly hanging, bark dark olive green, on older branches grey. Leaves ovate to broadly lanceolate (4-8 cm), leathery, smooth, with a spiny margin, glossy, variegated, dark green, with light gold-yellow margin. Mostly or only female flowers, unremarkable, needs a polinator for producing fruits. Fruits globose (4-6 mm), fleshy, smooth, glossy bright red, autumn and winter attraction. Ripening time: September-October. Attracts birds. Needs a sheltered position.
