Description
Small, upright, compact, moderately growing deciduous tree (H 4-5 m, W 2,5-3 m). Leaves broadly lanceolate (15-20 cm), soft, dark green, autumn colour yellow. Flowers in large inflorescence, two-lipped (3 cm), somehow curled, light pink, with yellow center, scented. Flowering period: June-August, long and freely flowering. It grows well in sunny, warm, sheltered sites, protected from dry, cold wind. Easily withstands summer drought and heat. × Chitalpa tashkentensis is an intergeneric hybrid, a result of crossing between Chilopsis linearis and Catalpa bignonioides.
