Description
Large, slow growing, upright, deciduous shrub or small tree (H 2,5-4 m, W 2-3 m). Crown broadly fen-shaped to oval. Bark dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly heart-shaped to round (8-14 cm), smooth, glossy, vivid green. Flowers numerous, in small dense inflorescence, pea-like (1,5 cm), white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits dry, thin, elongated pods (8-10 cm), dark brown, persist on the branches into winter. It grows in well-drained soils, in distinctly sunny, warm, slightly sheltered sites. Easily withstands urban conditions, heat and drought.
