Description
Large, bushy, fast growing deciduous shrub (H 3-4 m, W 3-4 m). Branches upright to open, densely branched, arching. Leaves broadly ovate (5-8 cm), smooth, light green. Flowers in rich, hanging panicles (up to 15 cm), star-shaped (0,5 cm), red-violet, scented. Flowering period: May. Undemanding, healthy and well-growing shrub. Grows best in fertile, humus-rich soils in sun. Good for cutting. Syringa × chinensis is a cross between S. vulgaris and S. persica.
