Description
Small, compact, slow growing, upright deciduous ornamental tree (H 3-5 m, W 2-3 m). Bark red-brown, ornamental. Leaves ovate (4-7 cm), dark green, autumn colour bright orange to coppery red. Flowers simple, star-shaped (3-5 cm), white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits globose (1 cm), dark red, rare. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Needs light, fertile and moderately moist soils. Easily withstands drought, suitable for urban conditoins. Prunus × eminens is a cross Prunus cerasus × P. fruticosa.
