Description
Medium-sized, compact, distinctly upright growing, evergreen ornamental shrub (H 1,5-3 m, W 1-1,5 m). Crown narrowly ovoid, dense, branches mostly upright. Leaves egg-shaped to lanceolate (7-15 cm), smooth, glossy, at first bright red to coppery red, later dark green, lighter beneath. Flowers in upright racemes (10-12 cm), simple (1 cm), white, scented. Flowering period: May. Fruits globose (1 cm), fleshy, glossy, dark red to black. Ripening time: August-September. Grows best in a sheltered position, protected from dry, cold wind, in moderately moist, deep, fertile soils. Easily withstands summer drought and heat, shade, pruning and salty soils.
